About the Composer:
Raamanaadapuram (Pooci) Shreenivaasa Aiyyangaar - Born on the 16th of August, 1860, to Narayana Iyengar and Lakshmi Ammal in Ramnad, he studied under Patnam Subramanya Iyer and counted among his sishyas Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar, Kandanur Srinivasa Iyengar, Salem Doraiswami Iyengar, Karaikudi Rajamani Iyengar and Kuttalam Srinivasa Iyer. He was Samasthana Vidwan at the Ramanathapuram Court (hence his name), but the name Poochi (meaning insect) was given to him for reasons not clear today. He composed over 100 pieces, including a Tillana in the rare Lakshmisa Tala. He died July 20th, 1919.
