Meaning:

Sri Annamacharya, in this Sankeerthana, describes that the mere listening to the Story of the Lord (Vishnu Katha) is as sacred a duty as to perform nitya karmas, for instance, Sandhya. The story of the Lord is a cushion to the devotee for keeping his life going happy just as a child is slept comfortably by his mother. The story of the Lord is what Vyasa Maharshi has drawn quintessence from the Vedas and elucidated, into a soft and lucid tale. The story of the Lord is what Narada sings while roaming the three worlds! The story of the Lord is as fragrant and fresh as the cream and butter that has freshly emerged out of the buttermilk obtained by the ladies of the Cowherd family. This story that sings the name of Lord Venkateswara is the Gateway to His abode. So, listen and relish the quintessence of the Vishnu Katha with great vigor and enthusiasm !!
